All you need to know about Poker hands!

There are 10 different potential hands in a game of poker, and we have listed them from strongest to weakest.


Royal Flush – Consists of a 10, J, Q, K, and A, all of the same suit.

Straight Flush – This is five cards in a run in the same suit, for example, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 all of the same suit.

Four of a Kind – This is four cards with the same rank, and any unmatched card, for example – J, J, J, J, and 8.

Full House – This consists of a pair and three of a kind, for example – 8, 8, 8, 2, 2.

Flush – This is five cards from the same suit, but not in a sequence, for example – K, J, 10, 7, 5 of Diamonds.

Straight – This is 5 cards in a sequence, but with 2 different suits or more, for example – 1, 2 (Hearts), 3, 4, 5 (Spades)

3 of a Kind – This is 3 cards of the same rank and two different cards, for example – 5, 5, 5, 2, 3.

2 Pairs – This is 2 cards with the same rank plus 2 cards of another rank, for example – K,K, J,J, 9.

A Pair – This hand is made up of two cards of one rank, and three different cards from a different rank, for example – A, A, 8, 10, 4.

High Card – Five cards that do not make any of the above hands, for example – A, 5, 9, 7, 4.
